Black, gold and brushed brass boiling water taps: every model by finish (2026)

We list 32 boiling water taps with a stated finish. 19 come in black, 9 come in gold, 11 come in brass and brushed brass, 28 come in chrome, 25 come in stainless and brushed steel (a model with several finishes appears in each of them). Every tap in the tables below comes from our library, with the exact finish name the brand uses and the RRP. The lowest RRP in these families is £299 for the Hanstrom Ume 3-in-1 in black.

How to read the finish tables

Colour is usually the first thing a kitchen designer settles, before the tap type or the tank size. Brands rarely use the same word for the same colour. Our data holds Black, Matt Black, Matte Black and Gloss Black as four separate finish names, and the same goes for chrome, which appears as Chrome, Polished Chrome, Bright Chrome and Brushed Chrome. Each table below groups the names that belong to one family and shows the exact name per model in its own column.

The finish does not change how the tap boils water. The tank size, temperature and warranty are separate fields in our data, and the same model in two finishes has the same specification. What does change is how marks show, and how the tap looks next to your other fittings. We show the RRP of the model and not a price per finish.

Not sure which type of tap you need first? The 3-in-1 vs 4-in-1 vs 5-in-1 guide explains the tap classes, and the best 4-in-1 boiling water taps page ranks the models.

Black boiling water taps

19 models in our library come in black, from Hanstrom, Fohen, Arnotap, Qettle, Franke, Quooker and Zip Water. The Hanstrom Ume 3-in-1 has the lowest RRP at £299. Dark finishes show limescale rings and fingerprints sooner than polished metal, so a soft damp cloth after use keeps them clean. Skip abrasive pads and harsh descalers on a coloured coating and follow the care sheet from the maker.

Gold boiling water taps

9 models in our library come in gold, from Hanstrom, Fohen, Arnotap, Franke, Quooker and Zip Water. The Hanstrom Ume 3-in-1 has the lowest RRP at £299. Wipe with a soft damp cloth and a drop of mild washing-up liquid, then dry. Avoid bleach, scouring powder and strong limescale removers unless the care sheet allows them.

Brass and brushed brass boiling water taps

11 models in our library come in brass and brushed brass, from Hanstrom, Fohen, Qettle, Abode and Quooker. The Hanstrom Ume 3-in-1 has the lowest RRP at £299. A brushed surface hides small marks well. Some brass finishes are sold as living finishes that darken with use, and the maker's care sheet says which. Use a soft cloth and mild soap and avoid metal polish unless the brand recommends it.

Chrome boiling water taps

28 models in our library come in chrome, from Hanstrom, InSinkErator, Fohen, Arnotap, Qettle, Franke, Quooker, Abode, Grohe and Zip Water. The Hanstrom Ume 3-in-1 has the lowest RRP at £299. Chrome is the easiest finish to keep clean. Wipe with a soft cloth, dry it to prevent water spots, and descale around the spout as the manufacturer advises.

Stainless and brushed steel boiling water taps

25 models in our library come in stainless and brushed steel, from InSinkErator, Arnotap, Fohen, Qettle, Franke, Quooker and Grohe. The InSinkErator GN1100 has the lowest RRP at £389. Wipe along the grain with a soft cloth. Brushed steel hides fingerprints better than polished chrome, and a little mild soap lifts most marks. Do not use steel wool, which can leave scratches and rust spots.

Which finish for which kitchen

There is no right finish, only one that fits the rest of the room. Use this table to narrow the choice and then open the model pages to check the exact finish name.

FinishFitsKeep in mind
BlackModern and industrial kitchens, black sinks and black window framesLimescale and fingerprints show more, and coloured coatings need gentle cleaners
GoldStatement kitchens with warm colours, marble or dark cabinetsAvoid abrasive products; match the tone to your other fittings, as gold shades differ between brands
Brass and brushed brassShaker and traditional kitchens, and rooms with brass handles or lightingBrushed hides marks; patinated and antique finishes change with use
ChromeMost kitchens, and the safest match with an existing chrome mixerPolished chrome shows water spots until you dry it
Stainless and brushed steelStainless steel sinks and appliances, and contemporary kitchensWipe along the grain and keep steel wool away

Choosing between finishes

Start with the fittings you already own. A boiling water tap sits next to the sink mixer or replaces it, so the two are seen together. If your mixer is brushed brass, the closest match is a brass family finish, and the name on the model page tells you whether it is brushed, patinated or antique. If you are buying both at once, pick the boiling water tap first and match the mixer to it.

Then look at the price. Compare the RRP of the models in your finish in the table above, and read the Quooker price guide or the Quooker alternatives guide if you want to see what the cheaper brands offer.

9 other finish names sit outside these five families, with 0 models that offer nothing else. The most common are Gunmetal (7 models), Rose Copper (4 models), Brushed Gunmetal (3 models) and Anthracite (2 models). They are listed on each model page.

Finish is only one of the choices. The tap finder filters by tank size, features and budget, and the installation guide covers what fits under your sink.

Questions people ask

Which boiling water taps come in black?
19 models in our library come in a black finish, from Hanstrom, Fohen, Arnotap, Qettle, Franke, Quooker and Zip Water. The cheapest is the Hanstrom Ume 3-in-1 at £299 RRP. Brands name the finish differently (Black, Matt Black, Matte Black, Gloss Black), and the table on this page shows the exact name for each tap.
Are there gold boiling water taps?
Yes. 9 models offer a gold finish, from Hanstrom, Fohen, Arnotap, Franke, Quooker and Zip Water, including variants such as Champagne Gold, Rose Gold and Brushed Gold where a brand makes them. The lowest RRP is £299 for the Hanstrom Ume 3-in-1.
Is there a brushed brass boiling water tap?
11 models come in a brass finish, and the table shows which of them is brushed, patinated or antique brass. The lowest RRP is £299 for the Hanstrom Ume 3-in-1. Check the finish name on the model page before you order, because a brand can offer brass on one tap and not on its sibling.
Does the finish change how the tap works?
No. In our data the finish is a separate field from the tank size, the maximum temperature and the warranty, so two versions of the same tap boil water in the same way. The finish affects the look and how marks show. We list the RRP of each model and not a price per finish, so check the finish you want with the retailer.
Do I need to match the boiling water tap to the other taps in my kitchen?
You do not have to, but most people pick one finish for the kitchen so the sink area looks consistent. If you have a mixer tap in brushed brass, look for a boiling water tap in the same family and compare the exact finish names, because brass, brushed brass and patinated brass differ between brands.
How many finishes does our library cover?
Across the 32 active boiling water taps in our library, the five families on this page (black, gold, brass, chrome and stainless or brushed steel) cover the large majority of the finish names brands use. A few finishes, such as Gunmetal, Nickel and Copper, sit outside those five.
