Hanstrom Ume 3-in-1

Compact 2.4L tank for small kitchens

The Hanstrom Ume 3-in-1 is designed for galley kitchens, kitchen extensions, and renovations where standard Quooker tanks would not fit. 2.4L tank with adjustable temperature output up to 95°C (not true 100°C boiling). 2-year warranty.

What we like

  • WRAS Approved confirms UK water-regulation compliance
  • Touchscreen sets temperature from 75°C to 98°C
  • 7 finishes including matt black and brushed gold
  • Trustpilot praises responsive UK customer service team

Watch out for

  • 95-98°C max never delivers genuine 100°C boiling
  • Standard warranty only 1 year, shortest in this list
  • Trustpilot reports boiler failures shortly after warranty
  • 2.4L tank limits back-to-back dispensing to 7 cups

Our take

The Hanstrom Ume 3-in-1 reviewed

The Hanstrom Ume is a £799 3-in-1 aimed at the design-led end of the mid-market, and the entire reason to consider it over a Fohen Focetti at the same price is shape. The tap is finished in seven colour options and the boiler tank is genuinely compact, which is the practical detail that matters most for buyers with a galley or single-side kitchen layout where under-sink space is already lost to a softener or waste pipe.

What works is the temperature flexibility. The Ume touchscreen control on the boiler tank lets you set anywhere from 75°C to 98°C, with preset points at 75°C, 85°C, 90°C, and 95°C that map cleanly onto green tea, coffee, oolong, and instant noodles respectively. The 2.4L tank is on the small side of the category but it reheats quickly and is enough for a two-person or small family household. Hanstrom uses solid brassware for the tap body, which feels more substantial in the hand than the thinner-walled bodies on some imported competitors.

The compromise is the same brand-scale issue that affects the rest of the challenger pack. Trustpilot reviews are mixed, and the most repeated negative is that the under-sink boiler unit failed shortly after the warranty period, which is not a problem you encounter with Quooker or Franke at much the same age. If you specifically need the compact tank for a small kitchen and the colour options matter, the Ume earns its position. If your kitchen has space for a full-size 3L tank, a Fohen Focetti or even a Qettle Signature gives you more brand-service safety net for similar money.
