Zip Water
Cubed-spout flagship: boiling, chilled and sparkling filtered water
The G5 Cube Plus is Zip residential flagship in the Cube design line, delivering filtered boiling, chilled and sparkling water plus standard hot and cold. Boiling is adjustable from 68°C to 99°C and chilled from 5°C to 15°C. The 0.2-micron MicroPurity filter is positioned by Zip as around 25 times more effective than a jug filter.
Our take
The Zip HydroTap G5 Cube Plus is the boiling tap that you specify when budget is genuinely not the question. At £4,030 it delivers sparkling, chilled and boiling water through a cube-shaped spout, with 0.2-micron filtration, a 3L tank, and the commercial-grade build that originally made Zip the standard fit in Australian offices before the brand crossed into UK domestic kitchens.
The strength is filtration and engineering. The 0.2-micron filter is significantly finer than what Quooker, Qettle or Fohen offer, and it makes a measurable difference if your local water has chlorine taste or sediment. The cube spout is divisive on looks but engineered to the same standard as Zip's commercial range. The chilled and sparkling functions are properly cold and properly carbonated rather than token additions, and the digital interface gives genuine control over temperature and filter status.
The compromise is the price and the 99°C boil. £4,030 is between two and three times what Quooker charges for an equivalent function set, and the boiling dispense at 99°C still does not hit a true 100°C the way Quooker and Qettle manage. You are paying for filtration quality, the digital interface, and the brand badge that signals a high-end specification. Buy this in a £100K kitchen refurb where it makes sense in context, not as a standalone purchase.
Running cost
Headline price is half the story. The Zip HydroTap G5 Cube Plus draws around 35 W at idle, reheats whenever the tank cools. Use the calculator with your own electricity tariff and household usage to see the 10-year total.
