Cookie policy

Cookie policy.

This policy explains which categories of cookies and similar storage technologies boilingwatertap.com uses, under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR. Analytics and marketing cookies fire only after you give explicit consent in the cookie banner. Strictly necessary cookies are always on, as permitted by UK PECR Regulation 6.

Categories we use

Strictly necessary

Always on

A minimal set of cookies and similar storage we cannot run the site without. These keep your session safe, protect against abuse and CSRF, and remember the consent choice you made in the cookie banner (stored in localStorage as `cookieConsent`). They never carry advertising or cross-site profiling data, and under UK PECR Regulation 6 they are exempt from the consent requirement.

Analytics

Consent required

Google Analytics 4 cookies (`_ga`, `_ga_*`) measure aggregated, IP-anonymised visitor behaviour so we can see which content is useful and how visitors arrive from search. No cross-site tracking. Retention: 14 months. These cookies fire only after you click `Accept all` or `Accept analytics only` in the cookie banner. Lawful basis: consent under Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR.

Marketing

Consent required

Google Ads conversion cookies, used only if you opt in to marketing cookies. Off by default. If we later run paid campaigns, these cookies measure whether ad clicks lead to a useful action on the site. No third-party retargeting or social-network pixels are loaded without your consent. Lawful basis: consent under Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR.

How to manage your consent

On your first visit, our cookie banner asks whether you want to accept analytics and marketing cookies. Until you choose, both categories stay denied via Google Consent Mode v2 and no analytics or marketing cookies are set.

Your choice is stored locally in your browser as a `cookieConsent` entry in localStorage for 12 months. After that, or if you clear your browser storage, the banner appears again so you can make a fresh decision.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the "Manage cookies" link in the footer. That resets the banner on your next page load so you can pick a new combination. You can also clear cookies for this site in your browser settings, which has the same effect.

If you prefer extra browser-level protection, modern browsers (Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Edge) offer tracking prevention or strict privacy modes that we actively support and do not try to circumvent.

Lawful basis

Strictly necessary cookies are placed under UK PECR Regulation 6(4), which exempts cookies that are strictly necessary for the service you have requested.

Analytics and marketing cookies are placed only with your explicit consent, under UK PECR Regulation 6 for non-strictly-necessary cookies and Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR for the underlying personal data processing.
