Best budget boiling water taps 2026: 8 models under £650, ranked by RRP

Ranked by manufacturer RRP, lowest first, straight from our model library. A lower price here usually means a smaller tank, a shorter warranty or fewer of the sparkling and chilled extras that push other taps well past £1,000; the reason line under each model says which. It does not mean a worse tap for a kitchen that never needed those extras.

3-in-1 vs 4-in-1 vs 5-in-1: what the numbers mean →

We list 8 current taps from 5 brands at £299 to £620 recommended retail price, ranked here from the Hanstrom Ume 3-in-1 at £299 up to the Qettle Original 4-in-1 at £620. Every price on this page is the manufacturer's RRP. We do not show shop prices or deals here, because we have no price history for these models to back a claim like that.

What you give up at this price shows in four places. The first is the tank: these taps hold 2.4 to 4 litres, so a smaller tank means the water reheats sooner when you pour several cups in a row. The second is the warranty. Hanstrom Ume 3-in-1, Hanstrom Saxan 4-in-1, Fohen Modena Digital 100 and Fohen Kyros 4-in-1 Pull Out carry one year, while the longest in this list is 3 years. The third is filtration. 7 of the 8 filter the drinking water, and Hanstrom Ume 3-in-1 does not. The fourth is temperature: Fohen Modena Digital 100 and Qettle Original 4-in-1 reach 100°C and the rest top out at 98°C.

The label tells you which kind of tap you are buying. Hanstrom Ume 3-in-1 is a 3-in-1: it gives boiling, hot and cold water from one spout. The 4-in-1 taps in the table add a filtered cold water channel. If you only want boiling water and your existing cold water, our 3-in-1 guide shows the same models side by side, and the 4-in-1 guide does the same for the filtered ones.

The RRP is only the first bill. A tank keeps its water hot all day, and that standby draw costs money. For the 4 taps here with a stated standby wattage the yearly running cost comes to £46 to £58, counting 10 cups a day at 27p per kWh. That is the same rule our running cost calculator uses, and you can change the tariff and the cups there. The other 4 models have no standby figure in our data, so we leave their running cost blank rather than guess.

Filter cartridges are the other recurring cost on the filtered models, and a cheap tap with an expensive cartridge can close the gap with a dearer one within a few years. The filter cost calculator turns a cartridge price and a change interval into a yearly figure. Installation is a separate cost again: a tank goes in the sink cabinet and the tap needs a hole in the worktop or sink, so measure the cabinet before you order.
