Strengths and trade-offs
Abode Pronteau Province 4-in-1
What we like
- Genuine 4-in-1 with a separate filtered cold drinking channel, not just a kettle replacement
- 5-year warranty on the tap, among the longer terms in the category
- UK brand (Barnsley, est. 2002) with UK support and genuine filters
- £1,249 RRP undercuts a comparable filtered Quooker setup
Watch out for
- Steaming hot at 98°C, not a true 100°C boil
- Boiler warranty is only 2 years (the part most likely to fail); the 5 years covers the tap
- Filter changed roughly every 6 months plus an annual descale, an ongoing cost
- Abode does not publish a clear standby wattage, only a 0.8 kWh per 24h figure
Quooker Classic Fusion
What we like
- Traditional bridge-style spout suits period kitchens
- Patinated brass develops natural patina without lacquer
- Same PRO3 tank as Fusion Round (genuine 100°C)
Watch out for
- Patinated brass needs occasional beeswax application
- 3-in-1 only (no chilled/sparkling without CUBE upgrade)
- Most UK retailers list price as POA, transparency weaker
- Tap warranty 2 years matches rest of Quooker range
